2nd Study visit of the DCAF project expert team to selected units of the Border Police of Bosnia and Herzegovina

The second fact-finding field visit of DCAF Experts to selected units of BIH Border Police, focused on border surveillance procedures and mobility, within the project Standardisation and systemisation of technical equipment of the border police of Bosnia and Herzegovine.

Field visit of the subgroup for Organisation and Human resources

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

DCAF Ljubljana, within the project "Support to the standardization of the resources of the border police of Bosnia and Herzegovina", financed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration, organised a field visit of the thematic working group on Organisation and Human resources, which took place between 18.-22. March 2024 in Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

The field visit is part of continuous Project efforts to prepare recommendations on standards and systemisation of the border police of Bosnia and Herzegovina. During the event, three specifically engaged subject matter expers presented the criteria for preparation of the proposed systemisation of work posts, taking into consideration existing systemisation and trends in criminality, traffic, terrain configuration... 

Following the presentation of the criteria to higher representative of the BP BIH, the experts engaged in discussions with senior representatives of the 6 field offices and also with representatives of several border crossing points and units for support and checks, to obtain additional information and insight, which will help in preparation of the final version of the systemisation.

Workshop on the use of excel in analytics

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

DCAF Ljubljana, within the project "Support to the standardization of the resources of the border police of Bosnia and Herzegovina", financed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration, organised a one-day training on the advanced features of Microsoft Excel (Microsoft 365) for analysts working in the border police of Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

The training, which was organised on the initiative of the Projects' thematic subgroup on Risk analysis, equiped the participants with knowledge advanced analysis of data and visualisation of data in ways which supports decision-making.

Meeting of subgroup on Risk Analysis

Sarajevo, Bosnia and Herzegovina

DCAF Ljubljana, within the project "Support to the standardization of the resources of the border police of Bosnia and Herzegovina", financed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration, organised a meeting of the subgroup on Risk analysis. 

The aim of the meting was for the leading subject matter expert to present the possibilities of data analysis based on the data being gathered by the BP BIH and to discuss the requirements for efficient data analysis within the BP. The participants reviewed the possibilities and discussed the potential and the needs for implementation of certain method and approaches within their existing system.

Field visit of the subgroup on Mobility

Bosnia and Herzegovina

Between 22 and 26 April 2024, a field visit of the thematic subgroup on Mobility will take place in Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

The activity, organised by DCAF within the project "Support to the standardization of the resources of the border police of Bosnia and Herzegovina", financed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration will provide an opportunity to subject matter experts to review existing capacities of several BP units and discuss specific challenges that the officers face in their work. The mission will provide valuable input for the development of recommendations on standardisation of equipment in the domain of mobility.

Bosnia and Herzegovina

Between 6 and 10 May 2024, a field visit of the thematic subgroup on Real estate will take place in Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

The activity, organised by DCAF within the project "Support to the standardization of the resources of the border police of Bosnia and Herzegovina", financed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration will provide an opportunity to subject matter experts to review existing real estate capacities of several BP units and discuss specific challenges that the officers face in their work. The mission will provide valuable input for the development of recommendations on standardisation in domain of real estate.

Bosnia and Herzegovina

Between 20 and 24 May 2024, a field visit of the thematic subgroup on ITS will take place in Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

The activity, organised by DCAF within the project "Support to the standardization of the resources of the border police of Bosnia and Herzegovina", financed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration will provide an opportunity to subject matter experts to engage with experts of the BP BIH with regard to ITS, the existing infrastrucutre, possibilities for connectivity and integration, and the applicability of the GIS solutions within the work of border police.

Between 10 and 14 June 2024, a field visit of the thematic subgroup on Control and Checks technique will take place in Bosnia and Herzegovina. 

The activity, organised by DCAF within the project "Support to the standardization of the resources of the border police of Bosnia and Herzegovina", financed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration will provide an opportunity to subject matter experts to review existing capacities and needs in the domain of technology and equipment related to border checks and border surveillance and discuss specific challenges that the officers face in their work. The mission will provide valuable input for the development of recommendations on standardisation of equipment.
