Salzburg Forum Ministerial Conference
Mátraháza, Hungary - Mr Anton Travner, Director of DCAF Ljubljana, attended the Ministerial Conference of the Salzburg Forum under the auspices of the Hungarian Chairmanship held on 11th October 2012 in Mátraháza, Hungary. The Salzburg Forum is a regional initiative at the level of ministers responsible for home affairs of the countries Austria, Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia and Croatia. The second part of the conference was held in the framework of Group of Friends of the Salzburg Forum at the ministerial level, a platform for cooperation with the EU’s neighbouring region of Western Balkans. The pertinent issue of illegal migration flows, a challenge to both the authorities of the EU and Southeast Europe, was discussed. DCAF presented the latest developments in the transformed Border Security Programme, including the upcoming first common operation at border crossing points in the Western Balkan region, which is to be facilitated by DCAF in November 2011.
