Belgrade, Serbia - On 12th April 2013, the Regional Ministerial Conference on Combatting Organized Crime, Corruption and Enhancing Judicial Cooperation in SEE was held in Belgrade, Serbia, co-hosted by Mr Ivica Dačić, Prime Minister and Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Serbia, and Mr Nikola Selaković, Minister of Justice and Public Administration of the Republic of Serbia. The conference addressed the strengthening of regional and transnational cooperation in the fight against organized crime and corruption, contributing to an enhanced dialogue among the regional countries and regional security actors. The participants discussed the mechanisms for regional police and judicial cooperation with the aim to enable a more efficient and operational action to counter the above challenges in the region. Mr Anton Travner, Director of DCAF Ljubljana, introduced the latest achievements within the transformed DCAF Border Security Programme implemented by DCAF Ljubljana, and the implementation of the Police Cooperation Convention for Southeast Europe. The participants recognized the exceptional role of such regional initiatives, and agreed that further promotion of cooperation among the regional authorities and regional security actors and international initiatives is necessary in order to improve the countering of occurring complex forms of crime influencing regional institutions and economies.
