DCAF Expert Meeting on the Facilitation of Common and Coordinated Measures in the Western Balkan Region

Rakije (RACVIAC), Croatia - At the DCAF expert meeting on the facilitation of common and coordinated measures in the Western Balkan region, held 4–7 February 2013 in Zagreb, Croatia, and hosted by the RACVIAC Centre for Security Cooperation in Southeast Europe (RACVIAC-SEE) at their premises in Rakitje near Zagreb, the representatives of the Western Balkan countries reconfirmed regional common and coordinated measures facilitated by the DCAF Border Security Programme as a priority for the region. Feedback was provided by police experts from the beneficiary countries regarding the operational results and achievements of the endeavors facilitated in 2012. Based on a retrospective assessment and the current state-of-play, two common operations and two coordinated operations at border crossing points, with the objective to tackle security threats to regional border integrity, were agreed to be held during 2013.
