DCAF Ljubljana, within the project "Support to the standardization of the resources of the border police of Bosnia and Herzegovina", financed by the Swiss State Secretariat for Migration, organised a field visit of the thematic working group on ITS, which took place between 20-24 May 2024 in Bosnia and Herzegovina.

The field visit is part of continuous Project efforts to prepare recommendations on standards and systemisation of the border police of Bosnia and Herzegovina.

During the event, a specifically engaged subject matter exper engaged with representatives of the border police of BIH to discuss the needs and standards relating to ICT, exchanged information on the existing systems and capacities, and also visited a border police unit Bijeljina (and BCP Rača) in Bosnia and Herzegovina where he was also able to obtain first hand information regarding the current state-of-play, and to identify potential additional needs and specifics relating to work of border police officials.

Furhter to the ITS, additional discussions took place with regard to the implementation of the GIS system into the work of the BIH BP. 

The study visit was enhanced by the representatives of the Swiss State Secretariat, who joined the DCAF team and the Expert in Foča, where they conducted a short monitoring mission of the Project implementation.
